When I caught wind of the concept behind Cynthia Rowley’s Resort 2011 presentation, I raced down to the Hearst offices where the collection was being shown “on-location” style. Accommodating editors right outside the doors of their offices, Cynthia and her girls set up shop right on New York City sidewalks. Champagne was served as “Paris” by Friendly Fires and “Empire State of Mind” by Jay-Z blared from the tour bus that transported models from Conde Nast to Hearst then finally arriving at the Time Inc. building.
Models like Coco Young, sported duds from CR’s free-spirited Resort ’11 collection that soared with youthful energy. Capturing the essences of uptown and downtown life in New York, sequined tees, tasseled handbags and sprightly eyewear took you from the Bowery to Barneys faster than you can hail a cab. Although, the real crowd-pleasers were the cross-hatched denim, leather and printed shoes with the chunkiest heel to satisfy any girl’s footwear desires.
