When it has come to Milan, I’ve heard the good, the bad and the ugly. Therefore, before landing in one of the most influential Fashion Capitals of the World, I was unsure what to expect. Nonetheless, when finally getting the chance to experience the style and fashion of the Milanese, I was pleasantly surprised and highly intrigued. Milan is one of those cities that lives, breathes and literally eats fashion, which could be considered a second religion next to the Roman Catholic Church, of course. When arriving in the Metro, Massimo Rebecchi’s A/W 2009 Show was playing on the large televisions in the middle of the train tracks! If only in New York…
So I know I mentioned that Milan literally eats fashion, well I wasn’t kidding. Emporio Armani and Roberto Cavalli both have cafes and restaurants in Milan and Florence. With extensive menus and drink lists, this is what I call eating in style…
Interesting enough, the men in Italy tend to overthrow the women when it comes to personal style. Furthermore, the older donnas seem to crush the younger generation of females. I was able to capture this photo of one stylish Milanese woman in Via Montenapoleone, which hands down puts New York’s Fifth Avenue to shame. The avenue is flooded with names like Fendi, Gucci, YSL, Louis Vuitton, and many more Italian and Parisien fashion houses. This is one supremely concentrated area of the HIGHEST fashion you have ever seen. My heart still pitter-patters at the thought of Via Montenapoleone….
