Out all of the great pieces that were shown during Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2009, the Corpus F/W ‘09 collection was one of the presentations. The men’s and women’s pieces at Corpus were the perfect coupling of downtown cool and uptown grandeur. I was able to chat with celebrity stylist Robert Verdi at the Corpus presentation to get his thoughts on the collection and how ladies can catch the attention of the ultimate bad boy.
Lala Lopez- So what do you think about the collection?
Robert Verdi – I really have this idea in my mind that how cool guys dress and I think this collection captures that. I want be this cool and I think all guys do. Because there is the intersection of rockstar, prepster, nerd. It’s a little professional and a lot from the street. It is just a really nice balance of all things that guys are familiar with in a fresh way.
Lala Lopez- I really love the chunky sock with the skinny pant.
Robert Verdi – The sock is great. There’s a great coat over there that has leather sleeves. Do a little varsity jacket. Men’s fashion has to be familiar. There has to be something we already know and we might even already own one of, but it has to be new fresher better version of that, and then we will pull out the credit card. 
Lala Lopez – How do you feel about the women’s collection for Corpus?
Robert Verdi – I think she looks like his girl friend, meaning Corpus knows how to dress the couple. She got the same qualities, i think she’s a little rock star, she a little street, she’s got a glam quality, but it’s any easy glam. Not an in your face and sparkly, its a rocker glam. I love the silhouettes. They are easy and women will understand them. Often times, women don’t see clothes that are designed by straight men for women, and so its an interesting thing because this is men designing, straight men designing clothes for women are basically an instruction manual for women is what guys want to see. They want the girl to be sexy yet still tasteful and Corpus has captured that.
Lala Lopez – Exactly, I recently was talking to a designer friend and he said someone that mostly when women design, they wind up designing for themselves and they miss the mark. So it’s interesting when a male designs and comes out to really execute and essentially gives women what they really want.
Robert Verdi – Its true, because like I said before this collection is basically like an instruction manual. If you want to go out with these guys that look like Colin Farrell and James Dean, here’s how you have to dress.
