The last thing that I would ever think I’d blog about was anything Anthropologie-related. But in comes in new Sundance original series, Man Shops Globe. The weekly thirty minute show chronicles the global expeditions of Keith Johnson, buyer at large for Anthropologie. Usually, Keith has two days to go to countries like France, South Africa or Turkey to find pieces that could be sold in his US and UK stores. Often he will commission emerging artists to do collaborations for the Anthropologie stores. One Anthropologie-commissioned artist is Aurelie Alvarez, who has the most whimsical artwork, which you can see here. Keith and his team of assistants, translators and agents will run, chase, and hunt down the most unique pieces of art, furniture, lighting, plates, textiles, ectera. Its an exhilirating race to find the most original, antiqued pieces at the right price. I think I like it because I know I’m not the only crazy person that will go long lengths to find distinctive pieces for a bargain. Man Shops Globe airs on Wednesdays at 10PM E/P and if you are in New York and have Time Warner, you can watch episodes a week before they air on Sundance on Demand. Is it me or does everything that Sundance do just simply golden?
