I’ve really grown to love exploring new, untapped places to see and things to do. It’s apart of my quest to see the world with my finger on the pulse and with ample space for my imagination to wander. So when I had received a sponsored email from Art Fag City announcing the unveiling of six new shows at the 1.8 million square foot Mana Contemporary Arts Center in Jersey City, my interested was piqued. Although, in my mind Jersey seemed like a world away. It’s really just twenty minutes outside of the city.
After a few wrong turns, I arrived at the mammoth of the property that is Mana, where security was directing traffic and guests were scurrying around everywhere with excitement. Mana sprawls six floors, including over 70 individual artist studios, galleries, a dance studio and a sculpture garden. You’ll be wowed at every turn because everywhere you look, there’s art happening. Mana is also home to the Eileen S. Kaminsky Family Foundation, the Middle East Center for the Arts, the Carole A. Feuerman Foundation, the Armitage Foundation and the Shen Wei Dance Arts along with an impressive art management business. But this incredible art center is the furthest thing from gimmicky – Mana is the real deal and thrives on building relationships and an art community that exists outside of your traditional art fair or gallery.
Ok, enough of my commentary. Now, let’s get to some photos.
