With Christian Dior’s passing this year, there are few famous couturiers left in this world. The 76-year old Italian designer Valentino Garavani is one of those last couteriers. At the tender age of 17, he left his hometown of Lombardy to go to Paris to pursue his career in fashion design. After much time, experience, struggle and triumph, he has become one of the most famous high-fashion designers of his time. Known for his iconic red gowns, Valentino has left a lasting influence on the fashion industry. Now Matt Tyrnaeur has chronicled his career in the new film called Valentino: The Last Emperor. The film has shown at the Venice Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival. There is no word on when the film will be released to select theaters in the states, but stay up to date with the Last Emperor at http://www.valentinomovie.com/.
