Toronto is hometown to some of the most influential people in fashion today. Supermodel Coco Rocha and Dsquared2 designers Dean and Dan Caten all call Canada home. There’s a design duo to add to that list in 2010. Alia and Jamil Juma are the brains behind label JUMA. Alia plays the role of design director while Jamil oversees all creative direction of the brand. The men’s and women’s sportswear line of deconstructed, easy-to-wear pieces is currently stocked in retail stores like OAK in New York and Free Shop in Tokyo. Not to mention, their built-in online store allows you to shop the pieces from the lookbook for Spring/Summer 2010. For Fall/Winter 2010, JUMA extended into accessories, including silk-printed, oversized square scarves that coincide with the abstract-printed t-shirt dresses that dominated the women’s collection. Stay tuned for coverage on the JUMA Men Fall/Winter 2010 Collection. For more information on Alia & Jamil and to shop JUMA, log onto www.juma.ca.
Briefly met Alia and Jamil at Fall/Winter 2009 Rendez-vous trade show. Hope to see more of them soon!
