Lala Musings: Milena Canonero

I hope that when I have about 20+ years of experience under my belt, I can stop whatever it is that I’m doing and just throw myself into costume and wardrobe for film. I mean who can deny a good film or rather good costuming in a good film. I was always very taken by the grandiose costumes in Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette. After watching some behind the scene footage, I was introduced to the beautiful work of Milena Canonero. Milena is an three time Oscar-winning costume designer that hails from Italy. Her body of work is beyond inspiring, as she has worked with directors like Stanley Kubrick, Francis Ford Coppola, and Hugh Hudson. She has designed costumes for films such as Darjeeling Limited, Clockwork Orange, Dick Tracey, The Godfather, The Shining, The Cotton Club and Chariots of Fire. The accomplishments and art that Milena has achieved in her lifetime far surpasses anyone’s wildest wishes. Milena is a visionary and unquestionably a very gifted woman.
