Italian designer Alberta Ferreti showed her Fall/Winter 2009 collection at Eye Beam studios on Tuesday, February 17th, 2009. The large, dimly lit venue was filled with 300 guests sipping on Louis Roderer while excitedly waiting for the show to start. New York society munched on Crispy Potatoe Gafrette with Creme Fraiche and Osetra Caviar in between being photographed by Paparazzi. A huge black runway was assembled in the middle of the runway where the show would presented three times.

I found a cozy spot at the head of the runway and turned to my right to find Hamish Bowles chatting up a storm. As I turned to my left, I found Suzy Menkes securing her spot and getting her little notebook out to make note of all the trends on the runway. Photographer’s cameras flash before lights went down to catch Devin Aoki dripped in Alberta Ferreti duds. While other’s snapped photos of Shanae Grimes, Olivia Palermo, Joe Zee, and the queen bees, Franca Sozzani and Carine Roitfield.

The show was dazzling. Materials and shapes were not limited for fall/winter 2009. There was the perfect balance of colors and shades. Bold yet romantic colors were tuned down with sheer fabrics and grey hues. The variety of the collection was most exciting as we saw everything from leather trousers to black hair coats. And let’s talk about the shoes for a second. 70s inspired metallic platforms? I live.

My night and quite possibly my life was complete when Kate Lanphear and I were standing next to one another. So naturally, I told her I loved her. I would say that it was a pretty great night.
