Pieces of The Weekend: Owen + Washed Out

After a long, arduous week, I love to get together with friends + family to explore parts of New York that I haven’t rummaged yet. It had been such a long time that I hadn’t seen my best friend’s son, Owen – the best dressed six year old I know. We made our way to Pequeno in Fort Greene, because God knows I can’t ever pass up an opportunity to try a Mexican restaurant I haven’t delved into. I was dying to play around with my new Nikon and Owen & his skateboard were the perfect subject. But word to the wise, don’t wear pumps if you plan on chasing around a kindergartener with a camera – no matter how much you convince yourself how comfortable they are.
I spent the majority of Sunday, doing some spring cleaning and taking inventory of all the vintage clothing I’ve been collecting and thinking of the best way to get rid of it. But it wasn’t all work and no play, later that night I made my way to Highline Ballroom with my good girlfriend Haleh for the Washed Out show. I’ve been really into them for a while now and was dying to see what a show from them would be like. Frontman Ernest Greene was flawless, shying away from the commercial success of ‘Feel It All Around’ and giving zealous fans a kick ass show. This weekend, I’ll be spending all day in movie theaters to see some new selects from the Tribeca Film Festival. Can’t wait to share all that indie film goodness.
