About two weeks ago, I got back from the bucket list trip of my dreams and I’m still buzzing from it. I got the chance to travel to Athens and Santorini, Greece then to Budapest, Hungary. Both places were destinations that I always daydreamed of but never really imagined I would be able to see with my own two eyes – at least not this early in my life. But alas, manifestation and hard work can bring even our wildest dreams into fruition right before us. As wild as they may be, I was living it, present for it, soaking up every moment in utter gratitude for where my feet were standing in relation to the place I call home.
Any chance I get to travel outside the five boroughs of New York, it’s without fail – I come back home with a new jewel of perspective, a nugget of inspiration, a sense of enlightenment that guides me to a better me. And my goddess, I love that feeling. Truthfully, I love any experience that gives me the opportunity to be a better me. But traveling to another state, country or even just outside of your comfort zone – does something to us. We’re freed from what we think we’re supposed to do, see and be. Our possibilities become endless and we no longer have the limitations that are placed atop us. We can do, feel, believe anything that we want to. (Now, if we could only realize this self-loving sensibility is available to us when we’re in the thick of the daily grind!)
Being in Greece, really did a number on me. Each morning, I would wake up super early to watch the sun rise, listening to just how quiet and still the universe was. While I sitting there either in meditation or in ultimate gratitude, in such love with the earth that God has created for you and I, that’s when the most beautiful messages rushed in. All the cloudiness of my mind that drew fog on my thinking while back home, was cleared. I could listen and receive all the good things that my intuition wanted to share with me. It was in these quiet moment that I really felt like a renewed spirit, ready to be in complete service and share my love through my creative work and words.
We all “go away” for many reasons. Most of us, because we want to a momentary escape from our waking lives, a recharge of our batteries – if you will. And yes! We all need that break from every day because life isn’t always as easy as we’d like it to be. But my goodness, it’s also such a wonderful time to take that rare quiet time to listen to life calling you. Listen to the subtleties in the air and the sea and the people and the buildings and the languages and the foods that are all giving you a new beat of the drum to journey through your incredible life. And when you get back home, back to reality, back into the swing of things, keep that newness with you – because it was always within you – it was just a matter of being introduced.
I hope you get the chance to travel and grow well and often. I hope you get to experience everything the world has to offer you with an open heart, ready to soak it all up. I’ll be posting my travel guides to Santorini, Athens and Budapest next week, please check back! xoxoxo
