Dirty Looks Presents On Location: July 1-31

I came across Dirty Looks NYC in March during the Dependent Art Fair at the Comfort Inn on Ludlow Street. The fair took up the entirely narrow hotel and each gallery showed their artist’s newest works in each hotel room. People were bumping into one another on winding stairways and there was an intimacy  amidst of the expression of the experimental works shown at the fair. I kept looking back to this postcard I got from Dirty Looks and the more I looked, the more it prompted me to learn more about the monthly platform that screens queer and experimental film and video.

Recently, they announced their newest intervention called On Location – a month long series a month-long series of queer interventions in New York City spaces like former queer meeting zones: shuttered bars, bathhouses, etc.  From July 1st to July 31st, there’s a new film/piece every night in a new place. I’m heading over to Cinema Village tomorrow night to see Frank Simon’s The Queen. I can’t wait for Jean Paul Goude’s screening of A One Man Show. Check out the resources below to find out more about the nightly happenings this July with Dirty Look’s On Location, should be one for the books.
