House Plant Love

There’s nothing I love more than plants. I love touching them gently when I pass them on a side walk. I love watching them grow. I love how some plants move towards the sun because they love the light so much. I love watching them drink up the water I give them. I love the color that they get to when they are really healthy and I just love having them around. As you can imagine, it would only make sense that my apartment has become somewhat of a domesticated jungle. It makes my home feel full of life and cozy. I wouldn’t have it any way else.

Yes, it’s without question that having a houseplant in your home can be a great focal point of decoration but there are so many other great benefits.

Health Benefits of Having House Plants in Your Home:

  1. Increases Oxygen Levels: giving you better air to breath and a better night’s rest. I have a snake plant (that’s starting to grow very tall!) right next to my bed.
  2. Natural Air Purifier: house plants help remove traces of toxic vapors in closed spaces and improve air quality, so you can breath in all that good, clean air, especially if you do yoga, pranayama or meditate at home.
  3. Mood Booster: studies have shown that house plants can boost your mood and your self esteem, it can reduce stress and adds an increased sense of calm.
  4. Natural Humidifier: house plants soften the air and increase humidity levels which helps to decrease our exposure to colds, coughs and sore throats.

Basically, if you bring in some house plants to your space, you can bet on having your over all wellbeing getting an upgrade.

Yes, there are tons of great benefits but really, my plants are like my pets. I don’t have a puppy or a baby yet but I have plants, crystals and shoes! I’m always posting photos of plants and flowers on Pinterest and Instagram because they inspire me. I try to keep succulents, cactus, snake plants & rubber plants around because they are low maintenance. As much as I love them, I can’t keep tropical plants in my apartment because they need more sunlight and warmth than my space will allow. If you’re a houseplant newbie, take a good look around your place and see what type of sunlight you get, check out where you can place them and what type of plants would be best. It feels comforting to have plants all around your space. I love that they are living things that I can care for.

Do you keep a house plant in your living space? What joys does it bring you in your everyday life?
