I Live-Instagramed My Little Getaway to Puerto Rico

I used to have the luxury of vacationing a lot more while I was in college. Any excuse to get away I would take happily. My travel frequency has slowed like molasses in the past few years. But every New Yorker needs their break from this fast paced city lifestyle. So was deeply anticipating my trip to Puerto Rico. I’ve been coming to the little enchanted island as far back as I can remember. It has always been with my family or on a wild excursion with girlfriends. But this time, it was with my boyfriend to celebrate our one year anniversary.

Sure, there’s excellent weather and lots of time on the beach. But this time around, I wanted to explore the special things that I’ve overlooked on past trips or even hadn’t gotten the chance to see because I was punch drunk off Medalla’s on the beach. So we rented a car and took off to El Yunque Rainforest, Luquillo and Pinones. I’ve always had an affection for lush, green views of nature – so between the trails, huge hanging palm trees and waterfalls – I’ve never felt more in touch with myself.

And being in Old San Juan is like a daydreamer’s lucid fantasies coming alive right before your starlight eyes. The architecture, the colors, the people, churches and specialty shopping, it’s heaven. Armed with an iPhone and a sickening addiction to Instagram – I snapped all the pretty pictures I possibly could. Even though I brought along my Nikon, something felt more authentic to snap and upload images from my iPhone, as they happened. Good Lord, I love Instagram. I hope you’ll visit Puerto Rico one day, you’ll have the time of your life, I promise.

Love,
Lala
