Sounds of March 2014

sounds of march 2014

The third installment of my monthly Soundcloud playlist is here without further adieu. I’m committed to support young artists and new sounds that don’t get radio play – well, unless it was featured on a kick-ass podcast or internet radio show. There’s an allure to working to find good, quality music. Hunting high and low for something you have never heard before but can’t stop listening because it transports you somewhere. Weeding out the good from the bad because when an artist or a track is good – it takes you to a place that you just can’t go with those top 40 hits. Hey, we all love a good pop hit, but all of those artists already have all the love. It’s time for the lesser-known artists to get their shine – they’re the ones that are really changing things anyway.

These mixes have been therapeutic for me. And these songs that appear each month are always providing some intangible cushion to life’s road bumps and the celebration music when things are just going my way. There’s a lot of high energy tracks like “Brighter Days” by Cajmere, which I heard the other day in my high intensity cardio/ Zumba class and nearly lost my shit. Then there’s the impossibly forgettable track from Gorgon City “No More”. I had to throw in one of my all time favorite tracks “Good Life” by Inner City along with the mix from Brothers in Arms that you’re sure to play 12434 times over the next week. Not gonna sugarcoat it, these are my going to work, going to the gym, getting ready to go out jams. I hope you like em as much as I do, cuties.

What are you listening to this month? Share your favorite artists and tracks with me in the comments below 😉
